AfA #41 – São Tomé & Príncipe
Die afrikanischen Galapagos Inseln.
Der tropische Inselstaat São Tomé & Príncipe gilt als exotischer Geheimtipp im Golf von Guinea. Vom Tourismus noch weitestgehend unentdeckt, befindet sich das gebirgige Archipel unmittelbar am Äquator und vor der Küste Gabuns. Es besteht aus der Hauptinsel São Tomé, inklusive der gleichnamigen Hauptstadt, sowie der kleineren Insel Príncipe im Nordosten und ist mit nur 200.000 Einwohnern die zweit-kleinste Nation des Kontinents. Nach Entdeckung und Kolonialisierung durch Portugal ist das Land wie alle anderen lusophonen Länder Afrikas seit mittlerweile 45 Jahren unabhängig.
Geprägt wurde der Inselstaat zuletzt über seine Küsten hinaus durch den Mann im Mond (Mark Shuttleworth) und die weltweit beste Schokolade (von Claudio Corallos). Auf beide wird in dieser Folge näher eingegangen.
