Die südlichste Bastion der arabischen Welt
(DE) Die Union der Komoren liegt vor der ostafrikanischen Küste und besteht aus drei Hauptinseln Grand Comore, Anjouan und Mohéli. Innerhalb des Komoren-Archipel gibt es aber noch eine weitere Insel die zwar zum Überseegebiet Frankreichs zählt, aber seit jeher eng mit den Komoren verbunden ist: Mayotte. Es ist also Drama vorprogrammiert in der heutigen Afrika für Almans Episode.
Im Episodenbild findet ihr links den höchsten Punkt, den über 2300m hohen Vulkan Karthala. Neben den klassischen Themen Geographie, Geschichte, Politik und Wirtschaft geht es zum Ende der Folge um die historische Swahili-Gesellschaft (s. Rechts im Episodenbild). Diese vernetzten afrikanischen Städte am indischen Ozean bildeten zwischen dem 9. und 16. Jahrhundert eine Hochkultur des Handels und die Komoren waren hierbei aufgrund ihrer zentralen Lage von großer Bedeutung.
