AfA #28 – Madagaskar
Der rote Kontinent im indischen Ozean
(DE) Den riesigen Inselstaat ist hinlänglich bekannt, ob aus Animations- oder Dokumentarfilmen. Madagaskar spaltete sich vor 160 Millionen Jahren vom afrikanischen Festland ab und gilt als heimlicher achter Kontinent. Berühmt als Heimat der Lemuren findet sich die einzigartige Flora und Fauna Madagaskars auch auf dem Episodenbild: Links, die riesigen Affenbrotbäume der „Baobab-Allee“ und rechts, der Steinwald im Nationalpark “Tsingy de Bemaraha”.
Ein weiteres Alleinstellungsmerkmal sind die Ethnie und Sprache der Madagassen, so gehören sie als die einzigen auf dem gesamten Kontinent der Austronesischen Sprachfamilie an (hierzu ein kleines Linguistik Special). Auch politisch und wirtschaftlich war und ist viel los in Madagaskar, vor allem in den letzten zehn Jahren. Eine gewichtige Rolle spielt hierbei das “Landgrabbing”, ein Phänomen was insbesondere Afrika zunehmend heimsucht.
