Dabei sind sie nicht die einzigen staatenlosen Völker; abseits der Öffentlichkeit kämpfen auch die Sahrauis seit nunmehr 45 Jahren um die Unabhängigkeit ihres Landes, der Demokratischen Arabischen Republik Sahara (kurz DARS).
Ihr Staatsgebiet «Westsahara» misst in etwa die Fläche der ehemaligen BRD und wird mehrheitlich von Marokko besetzt. Wie es dazu kam, welche Rolle Spanien dabei spielte und warum die jahrzehntelange US-Hegemonie außenpolitisch auch positive Seiten haben kann, erfahrt ihr in der heutigen Folge.
