AfA #51 – Togo
Featuring Thomas Krahl
Die einstige deutsche Musterkolonie Togoland und heutige Republik Togo ist ein kleiner Staat an der Westküste Afrikas. Geografisch schlängelt sich das Land als ein schmaler Streifen von der flachen Küstenregion im Süden über das Atakora Gebirge hin zu den Savannenlandschaften im Norden an der Grenze zu Burkina Faso. Politisch wird Togo seit 53 Jahren von Vater und Sohn Gnassingbé regiert.
Im Fokus steht diese Woche aber ein anderer – unser Interviewgast Thomas Krahl (s. Episodenbild). Der gebürtige Sachse machte sich vor zehn Jahren auf nach Kpalimé in Togo und hat sich dort mittlerweile eine eigene Existenz aufgebaut, sowie an zahlreichen Entwicklungsprojekten mitgewirkt. Er ist dort außerdem als Musiker aktiv in mehreren Ensembles und Sprachen und nennt uns interessante togolesische Künstler (u.A. King Mensah). Neben seiner spannenden Biografie gibt er uns der gelernte Koch in diesem einstündigen Togo-Talk auch einen Einblick in die dortigen kulinarischen Genüsse.

Being from New Orleans where the Audubon Society does its best to care for animals, I guess I dont have as much reservation about Zoos as perhaps I should. I understand the concerns though. I would love to see the Polar Bears too though I may wonder how happy they are living in an environment somewhat different than their own.
